Private Tumbling and Stunt Instructor, Team Training, Choreographer, Music Mixer and Teams Coach
Nickname: Danity Kang, Mikey
Hobbies/Interests: Cheerleading, Sports, Watching UO Duck Games, Martial Arts, Dancing, Music and Working Out (When I can!)
Interesting Facts: I have a sick obsession with the TV show “Friends” and LOVE watching TV game shows!
Bio: Why I love StyleShock: “To be a part of a program that wants to see their kids grow not only as cheerleaders, but as people is an absolute honor. It is so great knowing that when I am at the gym, I am at home and am surrounded with people that I can call my family, and I hope that kids can and will feel the same way.”
Mike hails from Boise, Idaho where he spent 2 years on the championship Centennial High School Cheer Squad. During his time on the team, he captured multiple Idaho State Championships, a UCA West Coast Championship, and 3rd place in Partner Stunts at State and at the UCA West Regional Championship.
Following his high school graduation, he moved to Eugene where he spent a year cheering for the University of Oregon Ducks. While at UO, he had the wonderful opportunity of traveling to Japan to represent the Ducks Cheerleaders at an International Sports Festival in Tokyo. He also applied with the National Cheerleaders Association and earned a position as a Camp Instructor for the summer months.
After his freshman year, he returned to Boise to continue his education at Boise State University and also began coaching at Mountain View High School for their Junior Varsity program. While he improved vastly on his partner stunting and tumbling skills with the Extreme All-Stars Open Team in Boise, his heart was definitely in Oregon. After 2 years, he relocated back to Oregon where he decided to finish his education at Portland State University.
He cheered on the West Coast Extreme Open Team during the 2006-2007 season, and received accolades as the Top Rookie Instructor in 2004 for NCA, and also achieved honors as a Top Veteran in 2005 and 2006. Naturally, his hard work and drive earned him the NCA H.I. Leadership award in 2007.
Mike recently graduated from PSU and currently cheers on the new StyleShock Open Co-Ed Team, teaches classes and private lessons at the gym, and works as a customer representative at Massage Envy in Lake Oswego.
